MONTE DUCAY

Monte Ducay is a singular, exclusive terroir in the Cariñena wine-growing region.

The land has deep, stony soil that gives the wine much of its character. The stones play a dual role: they allow water to filter through to the lower layers, where it is stored for longer instead of pooling on the surface and creating the conditions for disease; they also absorb the sun’s heat and release it at night, creating a microclimate that is very specific to the region.

The grapes that grow here develop less than those in other areas and are smaller in size. This means that its components are more concentrated (less water), which becomes evident in the very intense aromas our wines, what winemakers call highly expressive. Bodegas San Valero created the Monte Ducay range in 1969 to label their finest wines. Today it is one of an extended series of quality wines.
