(27/11/2009)
Bodegas San Valero is putting onto the US market its two new wines: Sierra de Viento Garnacha Old Vine and Sierra de Viento Tempranillo.
Two wines specially developed with the American consumer in mind.
December 2nd 2009. Today at the Hotel W Union Square in New York, Bodegas San Valero, part of the BSV Group and one of the standard bearers of the Cariñena DO in Aragón, Spain, is presenting its first two wines made by and for the US market: Sierra de Viento Garnacha Old Vine and Sierra de Viento Tempranillo.
The New York professional wine sector (including importers, distributors, restaurants and catering, sommeliers and specialist wine shops) along with wine journalists, have been introduced to these wines by the winery’s president and winemaker. Among the distinctive features offered by these wines is their excellent quality-price ratio.
Sierra de Viento Garnacha Old Vine is made from Garnacha vines that are over 30 years old. Vineyards that are low yield but extremely high quality. Garnacha Old Vine has a deep and intense cherry red color, with a garnet rim and violet tones. Elegant and intense aromas of ripe red fruit and spicy, toasty notes on a balsamic base. Structured on the palate, flavorful and powerful with fine, soft and well-balanced tannins, big in the mid-palate with an elegant finish.
Sierra de Viento Tempranillo is made from Tempranillo grapes. A powerful wine with a strong color and aromatic intensity, floral and fruity notes. Well-structured on the palate, with ripe tannins and a big, intense finish.
The BSV Group is already active on all five continents and Marqués de Tosos Reserva or the Monte Ducay range are some of the most prestigious wines, having won many national and international awards. The group makes a wide range of wines including young wines, crianzas, reservas, sparkling wines and sweet wines.
Bodegas San Valero is one of the leading exponents of the Cariñena DO and together with Gran Ducay Bodegas makes up the BSV Group, which is the cooperative winery with the longest tradition in Aragon.
Notes to the publisher: Bodegas San Valero started out as a cooperative at the end of 1944, bringing together 60 vine growers from the Cariñena region. Today it has over 700 active members, who between them own around 3,500 hectares of vineyards. Bodegas San Valero and Gran Ducay have joined together to form the BSV Group.
